ProTuner is a tuner and metronome built primarily for guitarists, with custom tunings and an Apple Watch metronome that can provide haptic cues. Use this page to solve common setup and playback problems or contact ProTuner support.

Tuner and microphone help

Use these steps when tuning does not respond or ProTuner is listening to the wrong input.

Allow microphone access

Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.
Open ProTuner in the Settings list.
Make sure Microphone access is turned on.
Return to ProTuner and reopen the tuner.

Refresh an external input

Disconnect and reconnect the external microphone or audio interface.
Reopen ProTuner if the input does not refresh automatically.
If more than one input is available, check Audio Route in ProTuner Settings.
When possible, avoid using a Bluetooth hands-free input for tuning.

If the tuner still does not respond, contact ProTuner support and include the device, app version, tuning, connected input, and steps that led to the problem.

Metronome help

Check the app and device settings that control sound and haptic cues.

On iPhone or iPad

Keep ProTuner in the foreground while testing playback.
Confirm that the tempo and time signature are set as expected.
Check the device volume and mute state.

On Apple Watch

Confirm that Watch haptics are enabled if you expect wrist cues.
Watch playback currently uses quarter-note pulses only.
The Apple Watch app is metronome-only; tuning remains on iPhone and iPad.

Apple Watch installation and sync

The Apple Watch app is a metronome and can be used on its own or with ProTuner on a paired iPhone.

You can install ProTuner directly from Apple Watch. The iPhone app does not have to be installed first for standalone metronome use.

When ProTuner is used on both a paired iPhone and Apple Watch, supported metronome settings and library data can sync between the devices.

If synced data looks out of date

Confirm that the Apple Watch is paired with the same iPhone that has ProTuner installed.
Open ProTuner on the iPhone.
Relaunch ProTuner on Apple Watch.

Practice reminder help

ProTuner reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device.

Make sure the reminder is enabled inside ProTuner.
In system Settings, allow notifications for ProTuner.

You can change or disable notification permission at any time in system Settings.

Privacy at a glance

ProTuner stores its in-app tuning, metronome, and practice data locally on your devices.

Tuning audio is processed on-device on iPhone and iPad.
ProTuner does not require an account.
ProTuner does not show third-party ads or use third-party tracking.
Custom tunings, metronome data, and practice data are stored locally.
Supported metronome data may move between a paired iPhone and Apple Watch through Apple's WatchConnectivity framework.

Billing and refunds

Apple manages App Store purchase records, billing, and refund requests.

ProTuner support can help with app behavior and troubleshooting, but it cannot issue App Store refunds or change Apple purchase records.

For a billing problem or refund request, use Apple's purchase-support process.
